As in the famous words of Cesar Chavez, “We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community… Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.” As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy, we aim to impact positive change and better our communities, both in our capacity as an organisation, and in our individual accord. We have made a commitment to make a difference in our community through charitable donations and staff volunteerism. For our first initiative, we have partnered with Yenzani Children’s Home, as our first beneficiary for our contributions.
Yenzani is a registered children’s home, Public Benefit Organisation and Non-Profit Organisation and Company operating since 2002. Once children are placed with them, they typically stay at the home for their entire youth. They try to meet every child’s particular needs, from the physical and medical, to the need for love and acceptance. They focus on providing a caring family home environment, to make sure that children leave the home as balanced adults who are able to fulfil their potential and go on to lead happy, successful lives. Their mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that improves lives and empowers these children, protecting them from secondary abuse and defending all their rights. Their core values are community, personal growth and quality care.
With the help of our very generous ISBO team, we were able to donate a bunk bed, clothes, shoes, stationary, a microwave oven, and a Dischem voucher to the value of R6 550.00. The Home has expressed their heart-warming gratitude for our kindness and generosity. Many thanks to the team, may we continue making a difference in these children’s lives! Upcoming initiatives We intend to build a long-term relationship with this organisation, and as such, there will be more charitable efforts to nurture and plant a seed of hope in these children’s lives. We encourage staff volunteerism in the form of group volunteering and visits.
